Transmitters had been placed on three bats two days before hand. We used telemetry to try and find the bats. We  only located  bat 2. It was in tree 49. The myotis bats in tree 49 could be seen clearly, it was the best view i had ever had of them in the day time. [...]

Bat Research 4/10/08

We decided to try to check the trees before the storm hit. The area was still flooded. We found two big ear bats. We got to see a tree fall and my waders filled up with water.

3/13/08 was the first day back in the field. The area was still flooded so we had to wear waders. We found two big ear bats.

Bat Conference 11/15/07

We left Freed at about 6 that morning to got to the Bat Conference near Nashville. Our group did well and we learned a lot form the 10 different presentations that were given.

Bat Research 11/5/07

Me and Tristan went out to the site. There was a little water near but we decided to go in anyway. We were only able to get to 7 trees and there wasn’t any bats in any of the trees.

Bat Research 10/29/07

We went to the site today. We found that although it had dried up some it was still to wet to go out there, so we came back.

10/1/07 Bat Catching

On the night of October 1st we went back out to the woods to film tree 4 and try to catch some bats. We were able to catch 2 Myotis bats. 1 male and 1 female. I got to hold 1 of the bats(with my glove on). We tagged both bats.

10/1/07 Bat Research

October 1st was the first time me and Tristan split up to check some of the trees. When I checked one of the trees a big ear bat flew down the tree at the mirror. We found 3 trees with Myotis colonies.

9/10/07 Bat Research

September tenth was the first time I went to the site without Dr. Carver. Checking the trees went well. We saw one tree with a group of at least 24 big Ear bats and two trees with a few Myotis bats. I also found the pencil that had been lost on our first time at [...]

On September 24th we found 3 trees with a Myotis colony. We were only able to see them in 2 of the trees. Later that night I went with John to film the emerging of the bats. We decided to film tree 23 which happened to be the tree we could only hear the colony in. [...]
